The first face-to-face meeting between UK and India scientist was held in Glasgow. This meeting helped facilitate face-to-face contact between industrial partners, academic researchers and served as the base from which further discussions and collaborations were initiated.

Programme for the LIGO India Meeting

Day 1 18/07/18

  • 11:00-11:30 Arrival/Coffee.
  • 11.30-11:50: Introduction to the LIGO Newton-Bhabha project + Discussion (Giles).
  • 11.50-12:20: LIGO India: update on site acquisition + Discussion (Sukanta).
  • 12:20-12:35: Overview of WPs (WP Leaders ~5 mins each. WP1 (The project management): Giles WP2 (Data analysis and Modelling): Patrick WP3 (Low thermal noise coatings and suspensions): Giles/Stuart WP4 (Interferometer modelling & simulation): WP5 (Entrepreneurial Activities): Stuart WP6 (Outreach Activities): Sukanta/Giles
  • 12:35-13:30: Lunch.

  • 15.40-16:00: Machine Learning applications to healthcare instrumentation (+ ~10 mins discussion/questions) (Peter Wakeford).
  • 15:30-16:45: Intro(Somak, Umakant, Giles) followed by discussion (all): Research opportunities in India (10m prototype/engaging RRCAT and IPR/what capacity needs to be developed/how will Newton-Bhabha achieve this?)
  • 16:45-17:00: Summary.
  • 18:00: Dinner (non formal - open to whom ever wants to join).

  • 09:35-09:50: Discussion: Opportunities for further engagement/opportunities for exhibiting in India in 2018/19.
  • 09:50-10:30: Rountable of WPs: Each WP should discuss/collect ideas around potential collaborations/new collaborations, how to efficiently commit funds, types of activity which best serve the WP (1-1 visits, focussed workshop, broader workshop).
  • 10.30-11:00: Break.
  • 11:00-11:30: Rountable of WPs: Each WP should discuss/collect ideas around potential collaborations/new collaborations, how to efficiently commit funds, types of activity which best serve the WP (1-1 visits, focussed workshop, broader workshop).
